Why a manlift was needed
The façade reached 16 metres, exceeding the 12-metre ground-based pole reach available for this project. Site accessibility also affected how the crew could approach the walls. A manlift provided elevated working access to the façade.
Height alone does not determine the access arrangement. The space around a building and the position of the surfaces to be cleaned also affect which equipment can be used.
Soft washing and regulated-pressure cleaning
The cleaning method combined soft washing with a cleaning solution and subsequent cleaning using a rotating surface cleaner at regulated pressure. The photographs document the rotating cleaner being used from the elevated basket.
The method described here is specific to this project. Surface material, finish and existing condition need to be assessed before selecting the treatment for another property.
The documented cleaning result
The actual before-and-after photographs show a visible reduction in dark surface staining and a more even appearance across the façade. The four additional photographs document work in progress and the manlift access used.
This comparison records the result on this property. Results on other buildings depend on the surface material, stain type and existing condition.
Cleaning addresses removable surface contamination. It does not replace repairs to deteriorated coatings, damaged panels or other building defects.
