The agreed cleaning scope
TopMop carried out internal and external glass cleaning and vacuum cleaning of the skirt areas. The project illustrates how a commercial cleaning scope should distinguish the glass, adjacent areas and any specialist treatment requested by the client.
Restaurant window cleaning should be specified around the actual surfaces and access available. A quotation for glass does not automatically include restoration, sealant removal or repairs.
Cleaning approach
The work covered cleaning both sides of the agreed glass and vacuuming the skirt areas. Cleaning and inspection must distinguish surface contamination from damage to the glass itself. This matters when evaluating the finished condition: a mark that remains is not necessarily removable dirt.
Findings and limitations
Etched marks remained on the glass. Standard cleaning cannot reverse etching or repair a damaged surface. Sealant residue was not removed; sealant-residue removal is outside TopMop’s standard cleaning scope.
These findings should be considered separately from routine cleaning. Where a defect requires restoration or replacement, the client should consult the appropriate specialist rather than expect additional washing to repair the glass.
What this means for your restaurant
Before booking, identify whether you need internal glass, external glass, or both. Include skirt areas, frames and other adjacent surfaces explicitly when requesting a quotation. Share close-up photographs of watermarks, etched areas and sealant residue so expectations can be discussed before work begins.
Also share your preferred working hours, access restrictions and areas used by customers or staff. These details help define the proposed scope and schedule.
Planning ongoing glass maintenance
A regular maintenance schedule can address recurring surface dirt. The appropriate interval depends on traffic, weather exposure, nearby construction and the restaurant’s presentation requirements. Permanent etching needs separate consideration and will not disappear through a routine cleaning schedule.
